This article discusses what is Tyro ? 

Overview

Tyro is an Australian EFTPOS provider and a long-standing Gold Standard Bepoz Partner.
“Tyro” is also the name of their EFTPOS terminals, which can be connected to Bepoz SmartPOS to process payments either:

  • as a Standard EFTPOS terminal, or

  • as a Pay @ Table device.

Both options require separate Tyro authorisation and activation.

Prerequisites

To access Tyro payment features in BackOffice, these operator privileges must be enabled:

Operator Maintenance → General tab

  • Access Venue, Stores & Tills

  • Maintain Venue, Stores & Tills

Tyro Standard EFTPOS

Tyro terminals can function as:

Standalone

  • Staff manually enter the amount into both Bepoz and the Tyro terminal.

  • No integration required.

Integrated

  • Payment instructions are sent from Bepoz directly to the Tyro terminal.

  • Requires internet connectivity (with 3G/4G/5G fallback).

  • Multiple tills can share a single integrated terminal.

Integrated is the recommended mode for speed, accuracy, and reduced errors.

Tyro Pay @ Table

The Pay @ Table integration allows staff to take the Tyro device to the customer’s table to process the payment from the POS account.

  • No BackOffice device required

  • Ideal for restaurants, cafĂ©s, and table-service venues

BackOffice Setup Overview

  • Standard EFTPOS requires terminal configuration in BackOffice

  • Pay @ Table requires a scheduled job

  • Tyro must receive the venue’s setup details to activate the terminal

SmartPOS Setup Overview

  • The Tyro Terminal Adapter must be installed and configured

  • POS settings differ depending on whether the venue uses Standard EFTPOS or Pay @ Table
