What’s New in 4.9.1.0
🎉 Metcash Host Pricebook — Review, Link and Create Products
Venues receiving the Metcash Host pricebook can now review supplier price changes before they reach the till, link and create products across all their sizes in one step, and compare their prices with competitors.
- Review and approve price changes — a new Update Pricebook Price option on the Supplier Item list lets you choose a venue, stores and price level, filter to price increases or decreases, tick the prices you accept and apply them in one step. New operator privileges control who can view the pricebook and who can update prices.
- Link at product level — linking a pricebook product now links every retail unit (each, pack and carton) to the matching sizes at once, with a Confirm Product Link review where any row can be excluded or changed. Units that are already linked are shown and left unticked.
- Create products from the pricebook — creating a local product now builds one product with a size for every retail unit, including barcodes, sell prices and cost price, without copying from another product first.
- Easier to browse — the Supplier Price Book tree now goes down to Department, Category, Commodity and Sub-Commodity with item counts, loads faster, doesn’t reload after you link or create a product, and shows clearly which items are linked and which are new.
- Competitor pricing — Product Maintenance (Pricebook Info) and the Supplier Price Book show every competitor price with the competitor’s name, and a new Current Sell vs Competitor Price report under Analysis Reports compares your sell prices with each competitor.
- Shelf labels for price changes — products whose price differs from the pricebook can be added to the Product Labels to Print list with the new Bepoz Price < Price Book Price and Bepoz Price > Price Book Price options.
🎉 Dahua Electronic Shelf Labels — New Integration
Bepoz now sends product, pricing and promotion information to Dahua electronic shelf labels.
- Multi-venue ready — Bepoz venues and stores are mapped to Dahua shop IDs, so each venue’s products and prices reach the correct Dahua store.
- Promotions shown for the right period — product, multibuy, member and member multibuy promotions are sent with their full start and end date and time.
- Fast updates — only changed records are sent on each run, so price changes reach shelf labels quickly, with a full re-sync option when needed. A run that fails is sent again on the next cycle.
Online Ordering — Room Service Charged to the Room
Online ordering platforms such as YourOrder can now check a hotel room through the venue’s RMS and charge room-service orders straight to the guest’s folio.
- Room lookup — the new RoomLookup API checks whether a room is occupied and which guests and folios are on it before an order is placed.
- Charge to the folio — orders paid with the RMS room charge payment types carry the room and folio number and are charged through the RMS. If the room charge fails for any reason, the sale isn’t saved, so no unpaid transaction is left behind.
- Check before re-sending — the new TransactionGetByOrderID API lets an integration confirm whether a transaction was created before it sends the order again.
SmartPDE Mobile — Faster Database and Multi-Venue Stock
Get New Database is much faster: the database is built in the background with progress shown, downloaded compressed, and shared between devices that ask at the same time. A device can also request a single venue’s data. In testing, a full build fell from about 15 minutes to under a minute. Stock documents from SmartPDE Mobile are now recorded against the venue selected on the device (see Bug Fixes).
Payments — Adyen and Oolio Pay
- Oolio Pay gateway fallback — a new setting on the Oolio Pay Settings tab of Adyen devices chooses what happens when the Oolio Pay gateway is failing: Fail (the default), Ask the operator, or Send to Adyen automatically.
- Card numbers — Adyen card numbers are stored with the first 6 and last 4 digits, so card records can be matched to their card scheme.
Kitchen Display — No More Waiting on the KDS
Orders are sent to the KDS in the background, so the till stays usable if the KDS is slow or unreachable. A failed send goes to the fallback printer, and orders still arrive in sequence.
Tables and Accounts
- Block account changes on unsaved tables — a new global setting, Block Account Attach/Detach Until Saved, stops an account being attached to or detached from a table until new items are saved. Off by default.
- Lock Bistro tables as a whole — a new venue-level option locks a Bistro table at table level instead of per patron, so a Bistro table open on one till can’t be opened on another.
- Logout from the table map — the graphical table map now has a Logout button.
Stock Control and BackOffice
- Inactive products reactivated on receipt — an inactive product is reactivated automatically when it’s received on a purchase order or manual receipt.
- Negative variance thresholds — the operator Recv Line Variance Limit and Receipt Create Variance Limit settings now accept negative percentages.
- Product copy and key lists — copying a product now asks whether to add the copy to the same key lists as the original.
- Hide other stores’ table balances — a new store setting, Hide Table Balances on Balance Report, leaves other stores’ open table balances off that store’s till balance report.
- Float In with Theoretical As Counted — for operators with Theoretical As Counted on, Float In is now added to counted cash, so shifts reconcile with no variance.
- Protected database updates — the Update Tables button in Database.exe now asks for a password. Automatic updates through the Bepoz updater are unaffected.
More Integration Updates
- NowBookIt walk-ins — walk-ins can now be created without customer details. Customer details are only sent when a name and an email or phone number are entered.
- Oolio Insights — order items now include supplier, pack size and unit cost ex GST.
- Bepoz Kiosk — staff-facing prompts such as prerequisite checks and printer messages are no longer shown on the customer screen, and connections to SmartPOS Mobile and Kiosk allow more time for a reply.
- US venues — the CASH ONLY label is no longer shown against cash-only accounts on the POS. Cash-only behaviour is unchanged.
Bug Fixes in 4.9.1.0
EFTPOS & Payments
- Adyen payment speed — Adyen payments appear on the terminal about a second sooner. A fixed one-second wait before every terminal request has been removed.
- Card overpayment in the US — with the workstation’s Cash Out OK setting off, manual credit card tenders can no longer be overpaid with cash back.
- Customer display fees — the customer display no longer shows “(incl. fee: 0.00)” on every tender when no card surcharge is set up.
- Voucher scanning — scanned vouchers in the 16-character lookup format are no longer rejected as “Voucher number invalid”.
- Gift certificates — a gift certificate can no longer be redeemed for more than its remaining balance.
- Tips up to 100% — tip percentages can now be set up to 100%.
Tables & POS
- Table item transfers — items transferred between tables no longer post to the wrong transaction, which caused lost items and incorrect balances.
- Tips on split tables — transferring tips between splits after attaching an account no longer leaves a negative balance.
- Bistro tables with service charges — a 1c balance no longer stops a Bistro table closing when a service charge applies and patron items are recalled.
- Cancelled table opens — cancelling part way through opening a table no longer leaves an empty table in the table list.
- Logout with a checklist — Logout is no longer blocked when the basket only holds zero-value checklist items.
- Order type indicator — the Dine-In / Takeaway indicator returns to the workstation default after a sale is finalised.
- Cash drawer prompt — Table Waiters are asked to assign a cash drawer once per login instead of twice.
- Till Table Warning — the Till Table Warning appears as soon as the operator logs on, as it did in 4.6.
- Account order numbers — Timed Logoff during an account’s Order Number prompt no longer leaves SmartPOS stuck in a loop.
- Combined product names — key maps and size selection display correctly when the Product Name setting uses a combined format such as Short + Long.
Printing & Kitchen
- Reprint to remotes — reprinting selected items to remote printers no longer sells them again when the table is saved.
Room Charges & PMS
- “Room Vacant” on room charges — Charge to Room no longer returns “Room Vacant” for occupied rooms after upgrading to 4.9.0.6, including guests with hyphenated names and shared rooms.
- Tip-only room charges — a tip on its own can be charged to a room again (introduced in 4.9.0.4).
Integrations
- SevenRooms bookings — the SevenRooms two-way integration retrieves bookings and sends spend again (affected 4.9.0.6 and 4.9.0.7).
- Smart Hospo (Doshii) Bistro payments — the second patron payment on a Bistro table no longer reports that the table is in use elsewhere.
- Doshii check-ins — check-ins are now attached to orders for every dine-in table group mapped in Order Type Groups.
- DoorDash orders — DoorDash orders with order notes import through Oolio Order Manager again.
- eConnect revenue centres — transactions at multi-venue and multi-store sites are filed under the correct eConnect revenue centre.
- Venue points display — points display factors below 50% and high point-to-dollar ratios now display correctly.
Reporting & BackOffice
- Tip Payout variance — using Tip Payout more than once in a shift no longer causes a variance between Payment details and Drawer total.
- External gift certificates on Till Summaries — External Gift Certificate Issue and Variance columns can now be added to the Till Summaries report.
- Supplier Contract Pricing — the Supplier Contract Pricing form opens in seconds instead of nearly three minutes.
- Min-Max purchase orders — creating a Min-Max purchase order for all suppliers no longer shows an “Object reference” error.
- Stocktake product tree — the Stocktake Report and Stocktake Entry screens show the full product tree again.
- Stock on Hand report — the Stock on Hand report no longer freezes on large selections and shows its progress while loading.
Stock & SmartPDE
- Stock counts at unranged stores — counting a product at a store where it isn’t available no longer re-ranges it at that store. The count is flagged for review in BackOffice instead.
- Multi-venue SmartPDE Mobile — stocktakes, requisitions, purchase orders, receipts and transfers from SmartPDE Mobile are recorded against the venue selected on the device, and the purchase order list shows that venue’s orders.
Platform, Performance & Upgrades
- Slow tills on 4.9.0.x — tills no longer slow down while service charge schedules are checked for each item, including at venues that don’t use service charge schedules.
- SmartController auto reports — Head Office auto reports and background jobs keep running even if the SmartController screen stops responding.
- SmartController crash loop — SmartController no longer crashes repeatedly at multi-venue sites running the AccountsFlow invoice job (affected 4.9.0.7).
- Database index — Database.exe now reliably creates a Transactions table index that could go missing during upgrades.
